TDZ, which has a good market abroad, has been always applied together with ethephon. It is used to defoliate and accelerate the maturity of cotton. TDZ defoliates the cotton leaves before they wither away, so the cotton fiber would not be contaminated by the shredded leaves, which improves the cotton quality and is favorable to large-area cotton picking through machines.
